Patients with spinal cord injuries get new immune cell therapy

Researchers have identified in mice a new type of immune cell, which their in vivo studies showed can rescue damaged nerve cells from death and partially reverse nerve fibre damage. The scientists also identified a human immune cell line that exhibits similar characteristics, and which promotes nervous system repair.

These findings may help the scientist to develop to new strategies for enabling recovery from degenerative neurological diseases like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and multiple sclerosis.

The research it is still at the beginning but there is hope for the future and in a decade or so i bet we will have a proven treatment for all these patients.
